Shirley A. Moorman, 88, of Celina, Ohio, passed away on June 21, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born February 10, 1935 in St. Marys to the late Frank “Doc” and Althea (Hawkey) Goodwin. On July 15, 1952 she married William Moorman and he preceded her in death on March 4, 1993.
Shirley is survived by her children, William (Darlene) Moorman, Manhattan, Kansas, Stephen Moorman, Celina, Linda (Jim) Monroe, Celina, Lisa (Dan) Smith, Celina and Judy (Harry) Bean, Celina; son-in-law, Tim Thornton, St. Marys; 23 grandchildren, two of which she helped raise, Tasha (Rodney) Klinger and Katie Moorman; 102 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret (Tim) Hunt, Lima and Sandy Comer, Wapakoneta; two sisters-in-law, Elsie Goodwin, Wapakoneta and Charlene (Rodger) Guingrich, Celina; and a brother-in-law, Eldon Moorman, Celina.
She is also preceded in death by a son, Joseph Moorman; four daughters, Karen Moorman, Coreen “Corky” Moorman, Malinda Thornton and Beverly Morris; a grandson, Tyler Whalen; two great grandsons, Darien Bean and Ayden Bean; a brother, Bruce Goodwin; in-laws, Wilfred and Coreen Moorman; and a sister-in-law, Margie Moorman.
Shirley was a 1953 graduate from Blume High School, Wapakoneta, Ohio. She retired from Huffy Bicycle in 1997 after 38 years of service. After retiring, Shirley continued to make a positive impact on the lives of others by working as a home health aide for private duty home health care.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina, Celina Moose Lodge # 1473 and United Steel Workers. She enjoyed most spending time with her family, traveling and garage sales.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, June 25, 2023 from 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm at Cisco Funeral Home in Celina.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 am on Monday, June 26, 2023 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Celina with Fr. Prashanth Kumar Bandanadham officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00 am – 10:00 am at the funeral home Monday morning.
Burial will follow at Mercer Memory Garden in Celina.
