OBITUARY
Shelomith D. (Corl) Eichenauer
1935-2013
Shelomith (Shomy) Eichenauer was born July 20, 1935 in the home of her parents in Helena, Sandusky County, Ohio. She died very peacefully with only her husband at her side in the very tranquil environment of her home in Butler Township, Montgomery County, Ohio very early in the morning of August 1, 2013.
On August 17, 1955, she was married to H. Stanley (Stan) Eichenauer in a ceremony officiated by her father and brother in the Fostoria High Street United Methodist Church. Shomy graduated from Fostoria High School and began her career working in the office of Dr. H. P. Ulicny. She stepped aside from the work force for nearly ten years while assisting her husband in the pastoral ministry and managing a family with three young children, along with two foster youth. Later, Shomy worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Absher Nursing Home, secretary for the Erie County Auto Club, United Methodist Children’s Home and Center for Vocational and Technical Education of the Ohio State University. Upon moving to Dayton in 1974, she worked in the admitting office at Good Samaritan Hospital, then for 19 years at United Theological Seminary (15 years as circulation manager in the library).
In addition to her husband, Shomy is survived by her three children: Konita Jo (wife of Rev. John Hodge), Mapletown, PA; Kevin Lee (husband of Bette), Newark, OH; and Kent Alan (husband of Connie), Urbana, OH. She has four living grandchildren: Jamis F. Eichenauer, Dublin, OH; Kathryn E. Hodge, Bradford, PA, Kile A. Eichenauer (husband of Ashley), Cygnet, OH; and Jeffrey P. Hodge, Washington, PA. Shomy is also survived by her sister, Naarah T. Griswold (wife of Rev. Edwin), Sun City, AZ, and her brother, Rev. Heth H. Corl (wife of Karen), Beavercreek, OH.
Preceding Shomy in death were: Rev. Inez P. (Lasley) Corl, her mother; Dr. Daniel D. Corl, her father; Hannah J. (Brown) Corl, her stepmother; Rev. Javan R. Corl, her brother; Neva J. (Whituhn), her sister-in-law; and Brock A. Eichenauer, her grandson.
During her life, Shomy has assumed very active roles in several United Methodist Churches in Ohio: High Street, Fostoria; Christ, Portage; Columbus Avenue, Sandusky; Church of the Master, Westerville; Fairview, Dayton; and Concord, Englewood.

The Eichenauer Fund at The Dayton Foundation (Supports the Greater Dayton Mental Health Foundation efforts to initiate and sustain innovative, effective and efficient services for persons suffering from a mental illness or an addiction),
The Eichenauer Fund at The Ohio State University (Supports the education and training of professional social workers preparing to serve patients and clients in the health care arena), and/or
The Front Porch Ministry of Community Table, Inc. (Underwrites the provision of food and shelter for people who are experiencing a critical and temporary need).
Services are at 2:00 p.m. Saturday August 17, 2013, Concord United Methodist Church, 1123 South Main St., Englewood, Ohio. Rev. Dr. Stephen Gill officiating. Gathering with family and friends following service.
