Rolland "Rollie" Krieder Lenhart

August 17, 1927 — October 26, 2022

Rolland “Rollie” Krieder Lenhart, age 95, of St. Marys, Ohio passed away on October 26, 2022 at Elmwood Assisted Living in New Bremen. He was born August 17,1927 in Columbus to the late Rolland and Edna (Legg) Lenhart Sr. On August 26, 1951 he married Mercedes (Wheeler) Lenhart and she preceded him in death on October 25, 2008.

Rollie is survived by two sons Terrence “Terry” (Nancy) Lenhart, St. Marys and Jeffery “Jeff” (Diedra) Lenhart, Elgin, SC; four grandchildren, Kelly Lenhart, Justin Lenhart, Keven (Shana) Lenhart and Ashley (Josh) Baker; and nine great grandchildren, Lauryn, Kenley and Trinity Hawkins, Dyllan, Ryan and Madison Lenhart, Mac, Tyce and Brayden Baker.

He is also preceded in death by two brothers, Stanley O. and Richard A. Lenhart.

He was a 1945 graduate of Lima Senior High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII and the Korean War Era. During the Korean War he served on a number of ships including minesweepers. He also served on President Harry Truman’s official Presidential yacht. After being honorable discharge Rollie went on to graduate from The Ohio State University in Columbus with a Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering.

His career lead him to work in and with foundries and he became an expert in problem solving. After a long and successful career he ultimately retired from St. Marys Foundry.

Rollie and Mercy enjoyed their retirement in Crossville, TN, where they stayed active together. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, handing out St. Marys Foundry ink pens, Tic Tacs and just candy in general. He also found time to volunteer at Life Care Center in Crossville.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the Lenhart family.

The Lenhart family would like to thank the staff at both Elmwood Assisted Living and Grand Lake Hospice for the excellent care they gave to Rollie.
