Robert (Bob) Edward Morin, 88, of Charlotte, North Carolina and formerly from Celina, passed away on October 31, 2020 in Charlotte, NC surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born in Connersville, Indiana on July 14, 1932 to the late Howard & Alvina (Smith) Morin. Bob had a genuine love of life and an endearing sense of humor. He was renowned for his friendliness and good nature.
Bob was married for 43 years to his devoted wife Joan Catherine (Kraus) Morin, who preceded him in death. Bob & Joan have five loving children: Jeffrey Morin of Ocoee, Florida, Jennifer Morin-Williamson (Chip Williamson) of Dayton, Ohio, Jane (Morin) Welshofer of Charlotte, North Carolina, Joseph Morin (Monica Morin) of West Chester, Ohio, and Jill Morin (Jeong-hoon Park) of Charlotte, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by siblings and in-laws: Howard “Jim” (Marge) Morin, Colleen (Morin) Kuntz (Robert), Mary Morin, Thomas (Ellen) Morin and Jack (Catherine) Harrington. Bob is survived by his sister Catherine (Morin) Harrington of Geneva, Illinois, and his sister-in-law Ellen Morin of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Bob adored his extended family which included fifteen grandchildren: Zayne Williamson, Hannah Williamson, Elijah (Breanna) Williamson, Caleb Williamson, Lydia (Taha Idihya) Williamson, Asher Williamson, Erin (Welshofer) Gregory (Jared), Garrett (Kileigh) Welshofer, Elsa Welshofer, Liza Park, Stella Park, Ruby Park, McKenna Morin, Zoe Morin, Ethan Morin and four great-grandchildren: Zoa Williamson, Oliver Williamson, Harper Gregory, and Lyra Gregory.
Bob graduated from Brookville High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics with a minor in Spanish from Xavier University. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War Era and was awarded the Army Good Conduct Medal. Bob retired from Celina Insurance Group after twenty-four years of employment as an insurance underwriter.
Throughout his life, Bob was actively involved in of a number of Celina area organizations including Knights of Columbus (twenty-five + years), Soundwaves Barbershop Choral Group, Barbershop Harmony Society, Giving Thanks Committee, Optimist International (Charter Member), Toastmasters, and the Immaculate Conception Church Choir. He was also a member of the Fr. Finn Society at Xavier University.
A gathering of family and friends will take place at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina on November 20, 2020 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 am on November 21, 2020 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina. Internment at St Mary’s Catholic Cemetery will immediately follow the Memorial Mass.
Attendees are required to follow social distancing guidelines dictated by the Ohio Department of Health, due to the national concerns of COVID-19. Attendees are required to wear masks at the visitation and funeral. In addition to the customary indoor visitation, family will receive guests who wish to pay their respects in a drive-through setting on the premises.
Memorial contributions can be made to The American Cancer Society, Little Sisters of the Poor Covenant House, American Society for the Blind, Smile Train, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
