Richard "Dick" Young, 80, Celina, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at 10:58 p.m. Nov. 21, 2013, at Celina Manor Nursing Home, Celina.
He was born Nov. 27, 1932, in Mendon, to Floyd G. and Doris L. Harruff Young. On Oct. 22, 1955, he married Betty Frysinger, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Keith (Christie) Young, Celina; two daughters, Kathy (Christopher) Garber, N. Manchester, Ind., and Michelle (Jerry) Ley, Celina; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jasen) Kunz, Samuel Young, Joel (Erica) Garber, Joshua Garber, Brittany Ley and Jared Ley; stepgrandchildren, Sam Huber and Danny Huber; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Vera Huffman, N. Manchester, and Sue (Don) Bauman, Mt. Gilead.
Deceased is a sister, June Davis.
He was a 1950 graduate of Mendon High School and a retired U.S. Postal Carrier at the Celina Post Office. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Celina, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, trustee, head usher and greeter. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean conflict, and was a member of the Celina American Legion, the Mercer County Sportsman Association and the MRC Sportsman Club. He loved fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Bethany United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Mendon Cemetery.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Monday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, and one hour before services on Tuesday at the church.
