Richard “Rich” A. Maynard passed away unexpectedly, at the age of 60, on June 23, 2023, at Lahey Hospital in Burlington, Massachusetts.
Rich was born in Celina on February 4, 1963; his father, Don Maynard preceded him in death and his mother, Alice (Blankenship) Maynard survives in Celina. On June 16, 1984, Rich married Lorrie (Perdue) Maynard and she survives at their residence in Celina. Together, Rich & Lorrie were blessed with five children, Megan (Jeff) Lauber of Celina, Ashley (Philip) Loveless of Celina, Adam (Anastasia) Maynard of Marysville, Brandon Maynard of Celina and Logan Maynard of Celina. Rich is the brother to Teresa (Chris Winget) Shinn of Celina, Sherri (Michael) Gulick of Merritt Island, Florida, and was preceded in death by an infant sister, Robin Maynard. Rich was very proud to be a grandfather of fourteen grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Debbie Perdue of Celina and a brother-in-law, Larry (Joe) Perdue of Celina.
Proudly serving in the United States Marines from 1980 - 1986, Rich was involved in the Beirut conflict, which was part of the Lebanon War. He retired as a manager from Walmart after thirty years of employment. Rich was a member of the VFW Celina Post #5713.
Being a parent and grandparent brought Rich joy and pride. Rich brought inspiration and guidance to his adoring grandchildren as well as laughter and a heart that was overflowing with love. Throughout his life, Rich embarked on countless journeys, exploring and immersing himself into the areas that he would travel to. He also had a deep appreciation for history and this allowed him to find connections with the places he visited and traveled to. Rich loved to share his travel stories and historical insights with his family and friends.
Visitation for Rich will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Cisco Funeral Home in Celina. Rich’s funeral service will be at the funeral home on Friday, June 30, 2023 at 10:30 am; the family will also receive friends from 9:30 am until the time of the service.
Interment will follow the funeral service in Mercer Memory Gardens in Celina; where military honors will be provided by the Celina American Legion Post # 210 and Celina VFW Post # 5713.
Memorial contributions can be made in Rich’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project to help support Veterans.
