Reed Allen Niekamp, age 71, of Celina, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 with his family by his side. He was born July 2, 1952 in Coldwater, Ohio to Elvin (Chic) and Magdalen (Henry) Niekamp. He married Kathleen (Braun) Niekamp on July 8, 1972 in Celina and they celebrated 51 years of marriage together. She survives in Celina.
They were blessed with two children: Jamie (Doug) Carlin, Celina and Steven Niekamp, Manhattan, Kansas; and three grandchildren, Natalie, Jenna, and Troy Carlin. Reed is survived by sisters-in-law Eileen (Mike) Moeller of Coldwater, and Martha (Tom) Prenger of Celina, and brothers-in-law Keith (Jeanne) Braun of Celina and Alan (Cindy) Braun of Celina; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Alivia Carlin.
Reed was a 1971 graduate of Ansonia High School and attended several classes at Wright State University Lake Campus. He retired in March 2016 after working for 32 years at Pax Machine Works, Inc. in Celina as a material handler.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting and academic events, attending tractor pulls and sprint car races; and doing gardening and yard work.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina.
Visitation hours will be from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at Cisco Funeral Home in Celina.
Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10:30 am on Monday, March 25, 2024 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Celina, with Fr. Rob Muhlenkamp officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00 am – 10:00 am at the funeral home Monday morning. Burial will follow at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Celina.
