Phyllis E. Schenck

Phyllis E. Schenck, age 95, of St. Marys, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024, at Otterbein St. Marys Senior Life Community. She was born on August 11, 1929, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Roger and Glenna (O’Brien) Richards. On November 27, 1947, she married the love of her life, Wesley Gene Schenck, who preceded her in death on November 15, 2017.

Phyllis is survived by her children, Gregg (Elise) Schenck of Vandalia, Ohio, and Susan (Dale) Herzog of St. Marys; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Janice Schenck of Melborn, Florida; her sister, Dorothy Hagens of Union, Ohio; and her brother, Mike Richards of Argyle, Texas. She was also preceded in death by her son Steven Gene Schenck on March 1, 2014. 

A proud 1947 graduate of Wilbur Wright High School in Dayton, Phyllis devoted her life to her family and community. She spent many years as a homemaker and worked as a bank teller at Third National Bank in Dayton.

Phyllis cherished the simple joys of life, including fishing and boating at the lake, playing cards, and creating lasting memories with family and friends. Her warmth, kindness, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Cisco Funeral Home in St. Marys. Friends and family may gather from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM prior to the service. Phyllis’s grandson, Sean Gardner, will be officiating the service. Phyllis will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Wesley, at Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
