Paul F. Bonvillian, age 95, of Celina, joined the Lord on February 12, 2022, at 10:30 pm at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 10, 1926, in Fort Recovery to the late Virginia Irene (Franks) & Dr. Thomas J. Bonvillian.
He married Lois M. (King) Bonvillian on August 19, 1950, in Celina and she preceded him in death on April 2, 2004.
Paul is survived by his loving family: sons, Paul (Kathleen) Bonvillian of Celina and Jim (Liza) Bonvillian of Celina; grandchildren, Ann (Tom) Baltzell of Dublin, Katie (Osa) Oshodin of Marietta, GA, Laura (Tyler) Mittlestead of Kettering, John (Kara) Bonvillian of Winston-Salem, NC, Ben (Jenna) Bonvillian of St. Marys, Luke Bonvillian of Phoenix, AZ, Joe Bonvillian of Nashville, TN; and eleven great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by siblings, Margaret Badders, Aline Eby, John Thomas Bonvillian, John Leonard Bonvillian, Mary Gin Schuler, Thomas J. Bonvillian, Robert Bonvillian and Richard Sr. Bonvillian.
Paul was a veteran of WWII and fought in the Battle of the Bulge; he was awarded two Bronze Stars. Paul was a lifetime member of the Celina American Legion Post #210, The VFW Post #5713 in Fort Recovery, the Celina AMVETS, and the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina.
Paul retired after 46 years of employment on the Nickel Plate and Norfolk & Western / Norfolk & Southern Railroad.
Family meant the world to Paul, he was dedicated to his family and truly enjoyed spending time with them. He loved to work outside, hunt for mushrooms, was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes & Cincinnati Reds Fan. He would lend a hand to any renovation project or repair and enjoyed helping. He enjoyed cheering on his grandchildren in various sporting and musical events. He continued to cheer them on into adulthood and loved watching them become the young adults that they are. His great grandchildren were his pride & joy.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022, from 8:30 am – 9:45 am at Cisco Funeral Home in Celina. Mass of Christian Burial will follow visiting hours at 10:00 am at the Immaculate Conception Church in Celina with Fr. Kenneth Schnipke C.PP.S. officiating.
Interment will follow at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery in Celina.
Memorial contributions can be made in Paul’s name to the Immaculate Conception Church Endowment Fund and / or the Grand Lake Hospice.
