Nicholas “Nick” R. Schroer, age 64, of Celina (Neptune), Ohio, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys, Ohio. He was born March 14, 1953 in Celina to the late Harold “Willie” and Marcella “Granny” (Crouse) Schroer. On June 16, 1973 he married Deborah K. (Hull) Schroer, and she survives in Celina.
Other survivors include his children, Jodi Schroer, Lima, Ohio, Mindi (Don) Bird, Coldwater, and Nichole (DQ Lewis) Schroer, Fort Mill, SC; a brother, Ed (Kathy) Schroer, Conroe, TX; three sisters, Linda (Karl) Engle, New Knoxville, Ohio, Mary Harris, Celina, and Bonnie (Larry) Allen, TX; his mother-in-law, Mary Hull, Celina; two sisters-in-law, Sheri Hull, Celina, and Colleen (Rick) Hilker, Fort Wayne, IN; eight grandchildren, Macie, Ashli, Zoey, Kendall, Kameron, Karson, Aaliyah, and Ava; and a great granddaughter, Ariaunna.
He is also preceded in death by an infant sister, Alice Schroer; father-in-law Melvin Hull; and two brothers-in-law, Don Harris and Lewis Williams.
Nick was a 1971 graduate of Parkway High School. He worked at Mercer Landmark, Mercer County Sheriff’s Department as a reserve, TU-Way, in Rockford, and finally retired from AAP in St. Marys in August of 2017.
He was a member of Old Fashioned Farmers in Van Wert.
His hobbies included farming, cutting wood with his nephews Rod & David Rider and great nephew Tyler Rider, and anything that involved working outside. He also loved old farm equipment, especially Farmall Tractors.
Funeral services will begin at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, with Rev. Dr. Jeffery G. Gramza officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family requests that you dress casual. Nick was not a dress up guy, so put on your most comfy bib overalls or jeans, toss on your favorite hat, and come celebrate his life with us.
Private graveside services will be held the next day at North Grove Cemetery in Celina.
