Nancy Jean Wreede

Nancy Jean Knierim Wreede, 82, died Jan. 14, 2015, at Auglaize Acres, Wapakoneta.
She was born Aug. 20, 1932, to Robert D. and Gladys Sonntag Knierim. On June 21, 1953, she married Edison L. Wreede, who is deceased.

Surviving are four children, Stephen (Rose) Wreede, Mansfield, Paul (Lori) Wreede of Minnesota, Jonathan (Christy) Wreede, Anna, and Susanna (John) Hines of Iowa; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was a homemaker, a teacher and a musician. She graduated from South High School, Lima, Bowling Green State University and Wright State University. She taught 34 years in Lima, Waynesfield, Celina Immaculate Conception and Coldwater.

An accomplished soloist, she sang with church choirs, directed children's choirs, gave private vocal lessons and presented programs for clubs and organizations throughout Ohio and Indiana.
As a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Celina, she served as assistant minister and reader and in the Sunday school for 30 years with the octagon children. She was a member of Grace Circle, WELCA and the Bell Choir.

Other memberships included the College-Community Arts Council, Mercer County Retired Teachers, Parkinson Support Group, Ohio Retired Teachers, and the Alturian Club.
She loved to write poetry and stories. She also composed plays and music for voice and piano. Sewing for her grandchildren was her delight.

She was a registered donor with the University of Miami Brain Endowment Bank. She is honored to serve in their research and education.

Services are 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church, Celina. Burial of her and her husband will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery, New Hampshire.

Calling is 10:30-11:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church.
