Michael "Mike" D. Daugherty

Michael “Mike” D. Daugherty, age 71, of St. Marys, Ohio, passed away on January 5, 2025, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 3, 1953, in Celina, Ohio, to Robert “Bob” and Marjorie (Elsass) Daugherty. On August 3, 1973, he married the love of his life, Rita (Yahl) Daugherty, who survives him at the family home in St. Marys.

Mike was the beloved father of his daughter, Maggie (Ty) Tomberlin of St. Marys, and cherished grandfather to his two grandsons, Brody and Deacon. He is also survived by his mother, Marjorie Daugherty of St. Marys; siblings, Gary (Diana) Daugherty of Greenville, and Melanie (Dick) Goldsmith of Bellefontaine; his sister-in-law, Charlotte Daugherty of St. Marys; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Daugherty, and his brother, Ronald Daugherty.

A 1972 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School, Mike retired after over 30 years of dedicated service at AAP in St. Marys. Throughout his life, he had a deep passion for music and was a talented drummer, playing in several local bands. He also adored his family, particularly his grandsons, and treasured the time spent with them. Mike enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Bengals, fishing, boating, spending time outdoors, and caring for his pets. Together with Rita, he found joy in running The Menagerie antiques and collectibles store in St. Marys.

Mike’s warmth, humor, and love for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Funeral liturgy and celebration of life services will take place on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 6:00 PM at Cisco Funeral Home, St. Marys, with Deacon Marty Brown officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the funeral home on Thursday.
