Mary A. Smith, 91, Coldwater, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her children at 4:40 a.m. Jan. 18, 2015, at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater.
She was born Jan. 10, 1924, in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Johnson City, Tenn., to John B. and Minnie Florence Emmert Baker. On March 23, 1945, she married Raymond A. Smith, who died June 14, 1984.
Surviving are three sons, Marion Smith, Botkins, Jack (Deb) Smith, Montezuma, and Kim (Diane) Smith, St. Marys; four daughters, Shirley (Myron) Griffis, Troy, Kathy (Mike) Skaggs, Richmond, Ind., Deb (Tom) Dembowski, Coldwater, and Linda (Dave) Hoskins; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Also deceased are a daughter, Beverly Sue Smith; two brothers, Jack Baker and Johnny B. Baker; and two sisters, Ruth Sartain and Juanita Mitchel.
She was retired from the St. Marys Cotton Mill and Gateway. She loved playing cards and bingo and loved reading to her great-grandchildren.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Bruce Head officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memory Gardens, St. Marys.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina.
