Martha A. (Hartings) Sherman, 83, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2013 at 10:20 AM in the James Cancer Hospital, Columbus, OH. She was born on November 18, 1930, in Maria Stein, OH to Anthony and Margaret (Gast) Hartings, both preceded her in death. She married Richard Sherman on August 18, 1951 and he preceded her in death in May 23, 2003.
She was a graduate of Coldwater High School. Martha spent much of her life as a homemaker and a loving caregiver for many people.
She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Montezuma, OH.
Martha is survived by two sons, Thomas (Robin) Sherman, Hilliard, OH and Timothy (Rose) Sherman, Minster, OH; two daughters, Susan Goldbach, Celina, OH and Therese (Rick) Uppenkamp, Celina, OH; a brother, Donald (Pearl) Hartings, Fort Worth, TX; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were a great grandchild; her brothers, Andrew Hartings and Jerome Hartings; and her sisters, Viola Davis, Sally Decker, and Julie Heyne. .
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 20, 2013, at Our Lady of Guadalupe, Montezuma, OH. The Rev. Alfons Minja will officiate. Burial will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery, New Bremen, OH. Visitation Thursday, December 19, will be at the Cisco Funeral Home in St. Marys, OH, 1175 E. Greenville Rd. during the hours of 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
