Marshall (Marty) M. Goens

Marshall (Marty) M. Goens, 78, of St. Marys, OH, passed away August 20, 2017 at Elmwood Assisted Living after a three year battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born May 28, 1939 in Troy, OH to the late Arliss and Helen Sue Kendall-Goens (Keith). He married Bonnie J. Kohler on October 2, 1965 who preceded him in death on March 8, 2005.

Marty is survived by his three daughters: Marsha (William) Uchimoto, Berwyn, PA.; Melinda (Terry) Krauss, St. Marys; and Michelle (William) Davies, Lewis Center, OH. He is also survived by three brothers: Burt Goens, Troy, OH; Floyd Keith Jr., Indianapolis, IN; and Leroy Keith, St. Marys; and nine grandchildren.

Marty was a graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School where he was a football and track star. He also proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He retired from Goodyear after 30 years of service and enjoyed being a bus driver for the St. Marys School District for several years.

He was a member of the St. Marys VFW Post 9289, American Legion Post 323 and the Kiwanis Club. Marty enjoyed taking photographs, attending Rough Rider sporting events, driving The Lost Weekend dinner cruise and was an avid bowler and golfer.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at the Cisco Funeral Home in St. Marys. The family will receive friends and relatives from 10:00 a.m. to noon prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, St. Marys, OH. Military honors will be provided by the St. Marys VFW Post 9289 and the American Legion Post 323.
