John “Terry” Thorpe, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 9th at the age of 65. Born on December 23, 1958 in Fulton, KY, to the late John and Novecene Thorpe, Terry lived a life full of love, laughter, and amusement for those around him.
Terry was a proud mechanical engineering graduate of Lawrence Technological University. He retired from General Motors after 30 years of service in Die Design. He enjoyed lake living, fishing, and going on leisurely boat rides. He was an avid sports fan who loved the Detroit Tigers, Lions, and Red Wings. His favorite sports memory was throwing out the first pitch at a Detroit Tigers game.
Terry is survived by his loving wife Deb; children Bryan (Leann) and Alex (Sarah); sister Vicky (Casey) Vanreyendam; and beloved dog, Roger. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Danielle. He is also remembered fondly by numerous friends and colleagues who were a steadfast source of support.
Terry was passionate about rescued animals and a fierce supporter of Deb’s advocacy to end domestic violence. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Saving Tails Animal Rescue,

Terry will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. To quote his favorite Beatles song,
Though I know I’ll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I’ll often stop and think about them
In my life, I love you more.
