He spent 30 years at Mercer Savings Bank where he served as President until his retirement in 2011 and continued as a Board Member until his passing. He was a Knight of Columbus, a member of the Grand Lake Development Corporation, Rotary Club, Eagles, American Legion, Moose Lodge, Ohio Bankers Association.

He loved watching sports, especially UD Flyers basketball, Ohio High School basketball tournaments, Buckeye football and the Celina Bulldogs sports of all kinds. He loved to travel with his family, play cards and read crime novels, especially those by Vince Flynn. He and Patty visited all 50 states together during their 46 years of marriage, finishing their quest last summer. He will forever be remembered for his calm demeanor and dry sense of humor.

Doug’s loving and generous spirit continues to touch lives. It was his desire that when he passed on, if he could help improve or even save someone's life by organ donation, we would honor and respect his wishes.
