James “Jim” L. Smith, 55, of Celina, passed away at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Mary, OH on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at 6:50 am. He was born March 6, 1961 in Celina. He married Robin Roberts on September 19, 1987, they were together for 29 years, and she survives at their residence in Celina.
Other survivors include his two sons, Jacob Smith, Celina, and Riley (Cassie) Smith, Celina; a grandson, Braxton and one grandson on the way; his mother Sondra Mihm Smith, Celina; a sister, Melanie (Mike) Kerns, Findlay, OH; a brother, David Smith, Celina; four brother-in-law’s, Ron (Tina) Smith, Celina, Les (Shelly) Smith, Celina, Ed (Geri) Roberts, Van Wert, and Rick Roberts, Cape Coral, FL; a sister-in-law, Shirley Smith, Gas City, IN; and his beloved dogs, Kira, Scarlet, and Dexter.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Smith.
Jim was a 1978 graduate of Celina Senior High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked for 32 year at Spring Creek Corporation, a job that he loved very much.
Jim was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Celina, Celina Eagles Lodge #1291, and CACE Club, Celina.
Jim loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed cars, especially his 1965 Mustang. He also enjoyed watching OSU Sports, the Cleveland Browns, and Celina Bulldogs sports. Most of all he loved watching his own children playing sports.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am on Thursday, October 20, 2016 in the Cisco Funeral Home, Celina with Rev. Bill White officiating; where the family will receive friends from 9:30 am – 10:30 am prior to the service.
Calling is 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Wednesday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina.
Burial will follow at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina, OH; where military honors will be provided by the Celina American Legion Post and Celina VFW Post.
Donations can be made to Restoration Counseling Center, 5100 Fairground Rd., Celina, Ohio in honor of Jim Smith.
