James L. Cook, age 78, of Celina, Ohio passed away on January 24, 2024 at Mercy Health - St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima. He was born February 14, 1945 in Bonne Terre, Missouri to the late Raymond and Minnie Pearl (Merritt) Cook. On June 26, 1969 he married Jessie (Eaton) Cook and she survives at the residence in Celina.
Other survivors include his children, Mark (Debbie) Cook, Troy, Missouri and Jaime (Jason) Hawk, Celina; five grandchildren, Joshua Cook, Caterina (Luc) Bronaugh, Grace Cook, Maggie Hawk and Owen Hawk; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Jackie Curtis and Ronald Cook.
He was a 1964 graduate of Desloge High School in Desloge, Missouri. He retired after working for many years as a Union Carpenter and most recently he worked self-employed, installing overhead doors.
He was a member of the Mercer County Sportsman’s Association in Celina.
James enjoyed hunting, fishing, skeet shooting and most of all spending time with his family.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the Cook family.
