Harold L. Muter, 89, formally of Celina, OH, passed away at Otterbein, St. Marys, on June 1, 2015 at 2:10 P.M. He was born on April 15, 1926 in Celina, OH, to Clarence and Stella (Weaver) Muter, both preceded him in death. He married Luella L. Burd on December 31, 1945, they were together for 69 years and she survives in St. Marys.
Other survivors include a son, Thomas (Patsy) Muter, Indian Lake, OH; a daughter, Jane Topp, St. Marys, OH; two sisters, Wanda Springer, Temperance, MI, and Waunita (Jerry) Bollenbacher, Celina, OH; four grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.
He is also preceded in death by a brother, Glen Muter; two sisters, Dorothy Augustine and Mary Vannette; and a son-in-law, Stanley Topp.
Harold was a 1944 graduate of Celina Senior High School. He attended Purdue University, received his bachelor’s degree from Ohio Northern University and he also went on to receive his master’s degree from Wright State University, Dayton. He served his country in the United States Navy during the WWII era. He worked for twenty years at Pet Milk, Coldwater and retired as a teacher from West Elementary, Celina City Schools after 23 years of service.
He was a member of Montezuma Church of Christ, OEA, life member Celina American Legion Post 210 and life member Celina VFW Post 5713.
Visitation hours will be from 5-8 P.M., Friday, June 5, 2015 in Cisco Funeral Home, Celina.
Funeral services will begin at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday in Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, with Rev. Cliff Beck officiating.
Burial will follow at Mercer Memory Garden, Celina; where military honors will be provided by the Celina American Legion Post 210 and Celina VFW Post 5713.
