Gwendolyn "Gwen" Elizabeth Cron, 72, died February 13, 2014, at Celina Manor. She was born April 20, 1941, in Celina to Lloyd Melville Otis and Elizabeth Dabbelt Otis. Surviving Gwen are her three sons, Brian (Diana), Cincinnati; Christopher (Kari), Mendon; and Gregory (Isabelle), Ottawa, Ontario. Also surviving are five grandchildren (Morgan, Luke, Elizabeth, Paige, and Aaron), her sister Nancy Otis Alber (Celina), niece Julie Cole Fleck (Celina), and nephew Thomas Lloyd Cole (Savannah, GA). Deceased are her husband Raphael ("Ray") Cron, brother James J. Otis ("Dr. Jim"), and sister Betty Otis Code.

Gwen graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1959, as class valedictorian. She obtained her bachelor's degree from St. Mary's College - Notre Dame (Indiana), during which she spent one year studying at the Sorbonne in Paris, France. Gwen became a high school English and French teacher, working in Celina, Cincinnati, Ohio City, and Van Wert. She was an advisor for Beta Club and The National Honor Society. Gwen took many students and adults on trips within the USA and also to Europe. Gwen was also a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Altar Rosary Society, and the Daughters of Isabella.

Funeral Mass is at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Immaculate Conception Church, Celina. Burial is at St. Marys Cemetery, Celina. Calling is 2-7 p.m. Sunday and 9-10 a.m. Monday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina. Contributions can be made to State of the Heart Hospice or The Immaculate Conception School.
