Gracie M. Gerken, age 71, of Lake City, South Carolina and formerly of Celina, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2022 at Mercer Health in Coldwater. She was born November 13, 1950 in McDowell, Kentucky to the late Sam and Reba (Campbell) Eversole. On July 2, 1973 she married Kenneth H. Gerken and he preceded her in death on October 29, 2017.
Other Survivors include a son, Jeremy Kurt (Gwen) Gerken of Lake City, South Carolina; a god son, Greg (Renee) Whited, Celina; sisters, Opal Eversole, Pikeville, Kentucky & Sylvia (Tom) Wiley, Lexington, Kentucky; grandchildren, Keith Michael Gerken, Kendra Michele Gerken, Kelsey Mallory Gerken, Hannah Whited, Jay Whited & Lily Whited; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by a son, Keith Alan Gerken; a sister, Helen Hamilton; a brother, Sam Eversole Jr.; and her faithful grand dog Flash.
Gracie was a 1971 graduate of McDowell High School in McDowell, Kentucky, and went on to earn an Associate’s Degree from Mayo Vocational School in business. She was retired and had worked at Casa Rodriguez in Celina, Coldwater Home Supply and Bethany United Methodist Church as a custodian.
She was an active member of Lake City United Methodist Church in Lake City, South Carolina and a former member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Celina.
Gracie enjoyed gardening, spending time with her family and most of all providing daycare for her grandchildren, especially her youngest granddaughter, Kelsey.
Memorial services will be held at 5:00 pm, Thursday, July 7, 2022 at Cisco Funeral Home in Celina with Pastor Mark Wakeland officiating; where the family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 pm prior to the services at the funeral home.
Private graveside services will be at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.
