Frank D. McKirnan, 58, Celina, died on the evening of Nov. 4th, 2014 at The Ohio State University Medical Center.
He was born on Feb. 2, 1956 to Daniel and Mary Jo McKirnan, both of whom are deceased. On Sept. 5, 1981, he married Sue Amstutz, who survives in Celina.
Also surviving are his two daughters: Miranda McKirnan, Chicago, IL and Chelsea McKirnan, Toledo, OH; brother: Kevin (Cheryl) McKirnan, Celina; two sisters: Maureen (Mike) Hausfeld, Celina and Jane (Lee) Riesen, Lebanon, OH; mother-in-law: Anna Lee Amstutz, Celina; brother-in-law: Ron (Jacqui) Amstutz, Celina; three nephews: Dak Helentjaris, Austin, TX, Ben Amstutz, Celina and Stuart Amstutz, Colorado Springs, CO; four nieces: Lillian Hausfeld, Celina, Margo (Jeremy) Sharpe, Cincinnati, OH, Julie (Alan) Maines, Lebanon, OH and Lucy Riesen, Cincinnati, OH; two great-nieces and one great-nephew.
He was a graduate of Celina Senior High School, Class of 1974. He attended the Colorado School of Mines, Northern Michigan University, and the University of Missouri, from which he graduated in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
He was an owner and partner of McKirnan Brothers, Inc. He was actively involved in the City of Celina serving as President of Celina City Council, interim Mayor of Celina, and President of the Celina Chamber of Commerce. His family would like to thank the City of Celina for flying the city flags at half-mast in honor of his service to Celina.
He was a member of the Moose, Knights of Columbus and the Mercer County Elks, serving two terms as Exulted Ruler. Additionally, he was President of the Ohio Automatic Merchandising Association (OAMA).
He loved to sail, golf, snow ski, and water ski. He enjoyed traveling with his family and friends. Spending time with his family filled his life with purpose and joy, especially his two girls.
Services are Monday, 10:30am at the Immaculate Conception Church, Celina with Father Kenneth Alt officiating.
Calling is 1-6pm on Sunday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Alzheimer’s Association.
