Emmett J. Murphy, age 92, of Celina, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Divine Nursing and Rehab at Shane Hill in Rockford. Born on September 27, 1932, in Muncie, Indiana, he was the son of the late Worley and Lillie Floy (Foster) Murphy.
On June 11, 1955, Emmett married Barbara (Horine) Murphy, and together they shared 69 beautiful years. Emmett is survived by his loving children, Linda Murphy of Kettering, Ohio; Bob (Bridgid) Murphy of Jamestown, North Carolina; and Rick (Beth) Murphy of Chattanooga, Ohio. He also leaves behind six cherished grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Dorothy Fenton of Anderson, Indiana, and Sue Murphy of Texas.
Emmett was preceded in death by his siblings, Billy Murphy, Jimmy Murphy, Leroy Murphy, Patsy Sommers, Trudy Jackson, and Vondaline Miltrocka.
Emmett proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War era. He dedicated over 40 years of service at New Idea in Coldwater before retiring. A man of many passions, Emmett enjoyed dancing the polka with his wife three times a week until recently, as well as traveling twice a year in the spring and fall. His love for woodworking and, above all, spending time with his family brought him great joy.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at North Grove Cemetery in Celina.
