Clarence “Gene” Dickey, age 86, of Mendon, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2024, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys. He was born on May 16, 1938, in Mercer County to the late John and Margaret (Hutchinson) Dickey. Clarence was united in marriage to Patricia A. Dorsten-Dickey, who preceded him in death on June 10, 2019.
He is survived by his loving sister, Rosemary M. (Robert) Blessinger, Garrett, Indiana; stepchildren: Connie Oen of Wapakoneta, Linda Baker of Vandalia, Sue Greber of Batavia, and Steve & Sandra Dorsten and David & Cindy Dorsten, all of Celina. Clarence cherished his role as a step-grandfather to 9 step-grandchildren and a proud great-grandfather to 17 step great-grandchildren, along with 3 step great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Clarence was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Eugene & Betty Flohre Jr., Merlin (Janet) Fischbach, Herman (Mary Bell) Flohre.
A proud 1957 graduate of Celina High School, Clarence honorably served his country in the United States Army. He had a long and fulfilling career at Huffy Bicycle in Celina before retiring.
An active member of the Celina American Legion Post #210, Clarence valued his connections with the community.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at Cisco Funeral Home in Celina, with Pastor Randy Christian officiating. The family will welcome friends from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM prior to the service.
Following the service, burial will take place at Neptune Cemetery in Neptune, Ohio, where military honors will be rendered by Celina American Legion Post #210 and Celina VFW Post #5713.
