Charlene M. Ballinger, age 87, of Celina, Ohio, passed away surrounded by her loving family on May 13, 2024 at Trustwell Living at Miller Place in Celina. She was born February 25, 1937 in Mercer County to the late Willard and Ruth (Beougher) Wurster. On October 23, 1955 she married Doyle “Pete” Ballinger and he survives in Celina.
Other survivors include her children, Kimberly (Gary) Beckstedt, Celina and Kelly (Rod) Stover, Rockford; five grandchildren, Brandi (Chad) Bruns, Lindsey (Brent) Wise, Tyler (Kathryn) Stover, Trey (Sheena) Stover, Lana Beckstedt; thirteen great grandchildren, Brayden, Brittyn, Madelyn, Jaxson, Evelyn, Anderson, KJae, Hadley, Sayler, Blakesley, McKinley, Coy and Cora; and a sister, Beverly (John) Hawk, Rockford.
Charlene was a graduate of Celina High School. She retired after working for many years at Celina Moving & Storage as a packer.
She was an active member of Neptune Church of God, where she taught Sunday School and played the piano for many years. After its closing, she continued worshiping at Mercer United Methodist Church in Mercer, Ohio. She was a big advocate and actively involved in the Center Township / Neptune Park.
Charlene enjoyed being a homemaker, helping Pete on the family farm, gardening, sewing and cooking. She was very active with her grandchildren and loved spending time with them and attending their sporting events. Charlene and Pete traveled throughout the Tri-State area and beyond to be their biggest fans. She was famous for her cookies, especially her chocolate chip and sugar cookies that she willing shared with grandkids and their teammates.
Funeral services will begin at 11:30 on Friday, May 17, 2024 at Cisco Funeral Home in Celina, with Pastor Randy Christian officiating; where the family will receive friends from 9:30 am – 11:30 am prior to the services at the funeral home.
Graveside services will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Celina.
