Bruce H. MacLean, age 84, passed away at his summer residence in Van Wert, Ohio on July 11, 2024. He was born on November 19, 1939 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Donald W. and Helen (Hutchison) MacLean. On March 14, 1970 he married Joyce A. (Painter) MacLean and she survives at the residence.
Other survivors include his children, Heather (Billy) Smith, Havre de Grace, Maryland; Amy (Brent) Carrickhoff, Oak Ridge, North Carolina and Rob (Amanda) MacLean, St. Marys; four grandchildren, Sidney (Daniel), Alyssa, Kameron and Kadence; and one great grandchild on the way that Bruce referred to as his Little Owl.
Bruce was a 1957 graduate of East Grand Rapids High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He owned and operated the family business B&K Automotive Supply Company in Kentwood, Michigan for many years. After selling the business he went on to retire as a firefighter for the City of Kentwood, he was proud of the accomplishment.
He was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity at Western Michigan University and Fraternal Order of Eagles #398 in Yuma, Arizona. He enjoyed traveling, riding on anything that had a motor, fishing and most of all, spending time with his family and friends.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday, July 15, 2024 from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Timberwoods Camping Resort in the back shelter house, 10856-A Liberty-Union Rd., Van Wert, Ohio 45891. The family requests that you dress casually for Bruce’s celebration.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Marshall Blue Grass Festival Scholarship, Marshall, Michigan.
